AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE was written by Ellen Gurewitz, a computer professional
with over 30 years experience in database design and programming. Her
experience includes 15 years as Director of Information Technology for the
Screens Actors Guild, where she was responsible for the development,
implementation and support of SAG's entire national computer system. When
Ellen retired from the Guild and became involved with alpacas, it was
natural for her to write a herd management software program. Breeders with
herds of all sizes were consulted and actively involved during the design
phase and continue to provide feedback for ongoing upgrades and
enhancements.

Q. What is the difference between AlpacaEASE and
HerdEASE? A. AlpacaEASE and
HerdEASE share the same format and functionality. AlpacaEASE is
limited to alpacas and llamas. HerdEASE has a
species setup module to enter any other animal species (horses, goats,
sheep, etc.) If you purchase AlpacaEASE, you can upgrade to HerdEASE in the future for $40.

Q. What's new in Version ? A. Version 7 has been migrated to the Filemaker 16 database engine, which is approved & supported for the newest Windows & MAC operating systems! All of the new and improved features from version 5 & 6 are included, as well as a few additional enhancements; including a new & expanded iPad & iPhone app! The Export/Import option, so popular in version 5, continues to be available in v7. It would not be possible to list all of our features, but our on-going commitment is to keep AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE current with the industry and needs of our clients. Q. Can I try AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE before I buy? A. A
fully functioning "trial" version of AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE is available
free of charge to any potential usesr. The trial version will run for 30
calendar days. When you purchase AlpacaEASE or HerdEASE, you will be sent
a registration code. Enter the registration code and that's it! There's no
new program to load and all your data remains intact. The PC or MAC trial
version can be downloaded here with a high-speed internet
connection (such as DSL or cable.) Or you can request that a CD be mailed
to you.
We encourage you to take advantage of our free trial period
for AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE. There is no better way to be sure it will work
for you and it insures happy clients for us!
Q. How much does AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE cost? A. AlpacaEASE currently sells for $185.00 (US) and HerdEASE sells for $225.00 (US).
That includes one year of free upgrades and support. There is a $25.00
annual renewal fee for upgrades and support, due January 1st of each year
(following your 1st full year.)
Q. How do I
purchase and register my copy of AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE? A. You can
purchase AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE by check, credit card or PayPal. Click here for payment
options. When we receive your purchase request, we will email a
registration code to you.
PLEASE NOTE: AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE will be registered and licensed to your business (ranch/farm/stud),; the license is NOT transferrable to other breeders (if you should sell your herd or business, AlpacaEASE cannot be included in the sale.) If the new owners purchase a license, the data files can be transferred.
Q. Can I network AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE? A. No,
AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE is not network-compatible. You can run
AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE from a "shared" drive on your network, which will
allow access from any computer that has read-write authorization to that
drive/folder. However, AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE is single-user, so only one
computer can access the files at any given time. AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE can also be run under
Dropbox or other shared on-line service
Q. Can I also run AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE on my laptop or iPad when I
travel? A. You can run AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE on any number of
computers. Just follow the Backup/Restore Instructions to copy or move AlpacaEASE
to another computer. The AE Mobile app for iPad and iPhone can be used in conjunction with, and supplemental to, your main program. While the mobile app provide many of the same features, it is not intended as a stand-alone product to replace the main computer program, but is a great tool to take on trips or use in the field.
Q. What about support? A. AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE has always
received the highest level of support and that will continue with
v6!!

Q. Is AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE guaranteed to be
“error-free”? A. No software can be guaranteed to be bug-free, and
AlpacaEASE/HerdEASE makes no such claims! We test new releases as
thoroughly as we can, but glitches may still happen. If you think you found a bug,
please contact us and we will fix the problem ASAP!
